Bond University’s Programme helps to provide valuable educational opportunities to a growing number of Indigenous students.

Since its inception in 2012, the Programme has invested over $4.6 million, awarded scholarships, and increased Indigenous student enrolments by 112%.

As a result of its financial and non-financial support, Bond University’s retention rate for Indigenous students is an outstanding 95%, well over the Australian average of 71%, with 64 indigenous graduates since 2012.

As a Supporting Partner, Precise Air has helped the University’s scholarship fund award 10 full scholarships this year.

The Bond University Indigenous Scholarship program has already helped to change the course of many young Indigenous students’ lives.

“While these students have the drive and ambition to succeed, they often come from disadvantaged backgrounds, so achieving a scholarship helps to level the playing field by giving them access to a whole range of new opportunities,” explained Catherine O’Sullivan, Bond University Pro Vice-Chancellor, Pathways and Partnerships.

“At Bond, we believe all young Australians deserve access to higher education and we are proud to help provide the best and brightest students with the chance to forge a successful future,” continued Catherine.

The Bond University Indigenous Gala, one of the major fundraisers of the Programme, will take place on 3 November. It will be held in conjunction with a round table ‘Think Tank’ aimed at improving Indigenous pathways to higher education.

This year, musical powerhouse and ARIA award-winning artist, Dan Sultan, will rock the stage to raise money and awareness for the education of Indigenous students.

The event, which has raised more than $1.35 million towards Indigenous scholarships since its inception in 2010, has become a keenly-anticipated staple on the Gold Coast social calendar.
