Recognising the rising trend of cycling to work and staying active throughout the day, Grosvenor Place tenants are being provided with opportunities to relax and unwind in comfort with the incredibly stylish End of Trip Facility and a newly refurbished Plaza.

Precise Air has been contracted by Built to install the mechanical services for the End of Trip Facility, completed late last year, and Stage 2 – Plaza Refurbishment.

To house the new End of Trip Facility, Built converted one level of the carpark into 40 showers and change rooms, lockers, bike lockers and a bike repair station.

Precise Air installed an Air Change system to service the entire Facility. This system was designed to recover and convert heat energy from the steam in the shower exhausts. The temperature is then adjusted for heating or cooling in order to bring it back to ambient temperature, and then reinjected back into the change rooms.

“Capturing and converting the heat energy from the shower steam is a very economical way to provide consistent comfort conditions,” explained Andrew Farrugia, Precise Air’s Project Manager on site.

More like a 6 star grooming centre, the Facility has individual shower rooms with polished stone benches, tech charging docks, hair dryers and straighteners, ironing facilities and shoe cleaners. In keeping with the highly stylised fit out, Precise Air needed to hide all grilles and systems with fascia.

The Precise Air team is now completing the pre-work required for Stage 2 – Plaza Refurbishment that includes five new cafes and restaurants in the largest, fully enclosed glass-roof atrium space in the Sydney CBD.

“We have installed an underfloor heating and cooling system designed by Vos for the entire Plaza floor that will help to maintain comfort conditions,” explained Andrew, “so systems deal with the extremes of summer and winter under a glass roofed atrium in a very economical and environmentally sustainable way.”

Pre-work for Stage 2 involved extending the condenser water loop by 120 metres, with heat exchangers, pumps, base building riser and plumbing to tenancies for future connection.

“Like the End of Trip Facility, the Plaza will have a high end fitout, requiring that all systems and grilles are hidden from site,” Andrew explained. “Co-ordinating all the contractors required to do this, and keeping up with the fast moving pace of this project, has depended on the great working relationship we have developed with Built on site.”
